Maple Ridge lies on the north shore of the Fraser River just west of Mission and approximately 45 km east of Vancouver.  Maple Ridge with a population of just over 76,000 offers the small town atmosphere, but within close proximity to a major trading centre.  Maple Ridge has history dating back prior to 1874, when the pioneer families of the time decided to incorporate and become one of British Columbia’s first municipalities.   There are several shopping centres in the area including Haney Place Mall, Meadow Town Centre, and Valley Fair Mall to name a few.

Maple Ridge transit offers public bus service within the community and has two stops for the West Coast Express.  Maple Ridge is situated on Hwy 7 and the new Golden Ears toll bridge allows quick access to Hwy 1 for commuters.

Home to the popular Golden Ears Park, Maple Ridge has a host of trails for hiking or biking as well as community parks and playgrounds for other outdoor activities and sports.  Maple Ridge hosts many Festivals annually including the Caribbean Street Festival, a County Fest and a Jazz and Blues Festival.

Maple Ridge School District has 21 Elementary schools and 6 Secondary schools, with many programs including French Immersion, Academies and a Bridge Program for students in K to 7 that for a variety of reasons may not be able attend or attend regularly to a public school.
